Seven persons escaped death in a multiple crash at Obosi bridge, along Onitsha-Owerri expressway, Anambra state.
The accident which occurred around 7.30am involved three vehicles, a trailer, a Mercedes Benz tipper and a tricycle.
The Nation gathered that the truck conveying bags of cement rammed into the tipper and the tricycle following a brake failure.
Confirming the incident, State Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Pascal Anigbo, attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure.
He however said no injury nor death was recorded in the incident.
He said, “At about 7.30am today Tuesday 5 May, 2020 a multiple crash involving Three (3) vehicles occurred at Obosi Bridge by the round about, along Onitsha-Owerri Expressway.
“The crash occurred after the brakes of a Trailer with registration number NSR64YQ, conveying bags of cement failed and rammed into a M/Benz Tipper with registration number ACA66ZB and a Tricycle with registration number KPP044VC.
“A total of seven (7) people were involved in the crash ( all male adults). FRSC rescue team from Oraifite Unit Command is on the ground controlling traffic, as well as clearing of obstruction caused.
“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi warns drivers against driving above stipulated speed limits.
“He reiterates the importance of ensuring that vehicles are checked and serviced regularly, especially the braking systems, before embarking on any trip.
“He also warns tricycle riders from operating on the expressway, as this is a direct violation of the Law.”
