Nigerian Youth Congress to Empower over 100 Youths in Agriculture

 

The Director of Works and Housing Directorate of the Nigerian Youth Congress Hon. Stephen Abraham Narai is set to empower the Youths in Nazarawa State, North Central Nigerian.

In his determination to reduce the level of youth unemployment and restiveness. Hon. Narai has revealed plans to empower 110 young agricultural producers in rural areas.

According to Narai, youths in Nigeria suffer high unemployment due to lack of opportunities, physical and psychological changes resulting from poverty. Some youths respond to these challenges by engaging in different heinous acts, such as criminal or violent behaviour while others suffer from depression.

The 2019 Candidate for Karu/Gitata Sate Assembly expresses his dismayed on how unemployment in Nigeria today create wide range of social ills, “I am sobbed, particularly how young people are susceptible to its damaging effects such as; low self-esteem, lack of skills, impoverishment and wasting of enormous human resources.

‘These problems associated with unemployment can be solved by empowering the youths through agricultural value added programmes to enable them have opportunities for self reliance,” said Narai.

The young charitable Nasarawa based politician disclosed that the programme would cover eleven (11) wards of the Karu Local Government and subsequently move to other geopolitical zone in Nigeria.

According to him, the programme will commence next week from the following wards: AGADA/BAGAJI, ASO/KODAPE, GITATA, GURKU/KABUSU, KAFIN SHANU/BETTI, KARSHI 1, KARSHI 2, KARU, PANDA/KARE, TATTARA/KONDORO and UKE after which we will move to other geopolitical zone in the Country.

The farming scheme empowerment programme brought by Nigerian Youth Congress would affect men and women respectively in Karu LG area of Nazarawa and later move to the Southwest geopolitical zone of the Country.
