The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC), Friday, said it has concluded plans to launch a Youth Radio to celebrate Nigeria at 60.
The move, according to the NYC leadership, is to add value to the nation through solid platforms and to create jobs for the youth.
The NYC President, Comrade Blessing A. Akinlosotu, in his Nigeria@60 Independence anniversary message, said the radio station is conceived to motivate the youth to listen to programmes that would proffer solutions to many problems confronting the country.
He said: “Many youths have involved themselves in listening to toxic news that doesn’t tell well of a united Nigeria. The NYC believes that youths must listen to programmes that motivates them to think well of a prosperous Nigeria, listen to issues that brings solutions to our many problems and engage in healthy conversations.
“It is towards these possibilities that the NYC, through the leadership of His Youthfulness, Blessing A. Akinlosotu believes that it will be of value to celebrate Nigeria’s independence day anniversary with the radio channel so as to proffer solutions to the many challenges confronting Nigeria today.
“The Nigerian Youth Radio which is already linked with one of the topmost ranking radio stations in Dubia, known as Typical Nija Radio will turnout to be one of the most informative, educative, and entertaining radio station in the country”.
On Nigeria’s 60th anniversary, Akinlosotu, who felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion, said:”The story of Nigeria is a continuous glow of greatness right from inception. The glow has often made fellow African countries fancied the essence as a country of hope and great grace”.
The NYC president stated that Nigeria in recent times has been a shining light to Africa and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for sustaining democracy.
Akinlosotu said: “60 years of togetherness and peaceful coexistence is no means fit. A country as diverse like us in many ways deserves commendation for standing tall to this level irrespective of our looming challenges.
“We appreciate Mr. President for his continuous support in ensuring that the virtues of the founding fathers are well addressed”.
