The Nigerian Youth Congress has charged the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to speak now before things get out of hand.
This was disclosed today 19 October, 2020 In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja the capital city of Nigeria.
The NYC President, Blessing Akinlosotu charged the President to speak to the Nation and bring down the tension. “It is days now since the #EndSARS protests kick-started and Nigerians have been clamouring for Mr. President to come and speak to the Youths over the matter at hand.
It is believed that the President addressing the youths and the nation one on one as a father-figure giving listening ears to the people and giving them a renewed confidence will bring about the kind of calm needed in the nation.
This is not the time where the president should act as a background stage manager rather a time the President should act like a father to the Youths and give them a renewed confidence that will employ them to be calm in the storm”.
The President of NYC further narrated that the nation’s life, there is awoken curve in the lives of the youths that cannot be easily surmounted. This renewed thought can only be subsidised if the leaders proffer solutions immediately to the welfare of the Youths.
Stressing that the issues raised are policy issues that can be reactivated by sincere legislation and connivance with the Executive. “We must reassure the youths at this time by effectively putting to bare a new order that will visibly make the necessary amends in the scheme of things.
Nigerian youths want to see quick actions to their plight. And in doing that, wants to see an organ of government that is sincere enough to make the necessary changes in policy issues for the betterment of the nation”, he added.
